Overview

Are you passionate about books, audiobooks, and connecting content with listeners? HarperCollins has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Representative to join our Online Sales team.

The Sales Representative will work closely with the Online Sales Director, Sales Coordinator, and cross-functional partners to support and grow HarperCollins digital audio sales. This role will present frontlist and backlist titles to digital accounts, analyze sales trends and title performance, and identify opportunities to drive category growth and secure key merchandising placement.

The Sales Representative will serve as a key liaison between digital accounts and internal teams, including Editorial, Marketing, and Publicity, helping to position titles for maximum exposure, sales, and growth. The role will also support larger digital audio accounts with reporting and account needs and provide internal education and guidance on digital audio best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and presents frontlist and backlist titles to OverDrive, hoopla, Google, Apple editorial teams, and other digital accounts as needed, including strategic and innovative recommendations to grow revenue by category.
  • Analyzes category and title performance metrics to identify growth opportunities for frontlist and backlist titles and provides forecasts for digital acquisitions.
  • Works closely with digital accounts and internal departments to champion HarperCollins title performance and support opportunities for increased exposure and sales.
  • Supports larger digital audio accounts, including Audible and Spotify, with reporting and other account needs.
  • Collaborates with Editorial, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales colleagues to identify promotional and merchandising opportunities that support priority titles and category growth.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and proactively shares insights, ideas, and opportunities to grow the business.
  • Responds to general requests from internal stakeholders regarding account-related digital audio and ebook issues.
  • Creates and presents resources that support digital audio education and best practices.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of publishing sales experience.
  • Knowledge of the online sales channel, evolving ecommerce trends, and the overall book market; digital audio experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with digital marketing and metadata preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use sales and performance data to identify opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and take initiative in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
