Overview

We are actively seeking a self-motivated individual to join the HarperCollins Christian Publishing team as a Production Assistant for Harper Christian Children’s Books.

This position will be responsible for supporting the Production Manager. The Production Assistant will also coordinate all phases of production of between internal departments and outside vendors for a short list of simple frontlist Children’s titles under Tommy Nelson and Zonderkidz divisions. This position will also help the Director(s) with administrative tastks. Must thrive in a team environment where communication, budget, quality, and schedules are paramount.

 

This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring onsite presence 3 days per week at our office at 777 Scudders Mill Road, Plainsboro, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and backup support to Production Manager and Director(s)
  • Updates the production grids including adding new title information and logging task notifications.
  • Collaborates with Managing Editorial, Design and Editorial to develop product specifications, taking into account special product needs and price constraints used on components for maximum effective use in the most fiscally responsible manner.
  • Estimates titles for acquisition, spec approval, and final pricing.
  • Works with domestic and overseas vendors to create and maintain title-specific schedules.
  • Issues Purchase Orders for new books, inclusive, but not limited to, printing, binding, components.
  • Quality Control all products and samples.
  • Attends weekly production meetings on Teams for Tommy Nelson and Zonderkidz when requested.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Possesses high level of organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and simultaneously complete multiple projects
  • Strong analytical skills in calculating and evaluating costs
  • PC experience including proficiency in MS office, especially Excel
  • Thorough, accurate, and articulate verbal and written communication skills
  • Impeccable follow-up skills
  • Capacity to think and react gracefully in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of offset printing, binding, and finishing a plus

The salary for this position is $52,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
