Overview

Oversee a small team of Technicians focusing on effective preventative maintenance plans and schedules for all facility equipment and material handling systems at an automated location. This position is categorized as critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Distribution Center and associated Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is running at maximum efficiency with minimum downtime.
  • Directs the workflow, motivates, trains and monitors the performance of Technicians involved in the maintenance functions.
  • Diagnoses error conditions occurring in the facility and repairs accordingly, in support of division operations.
  • Schedules and executes ongoing preventive maintenance programs for building and material handling equipment.
  • Responsible for efficient operation of equipment in the facility; ensures that problems with equipment such as air and heating systems, conveyer systems and forklift equipment are addressed.
  • Assists in the configuration, maintenance, modifications, and system upgrades of MHE control systems to include programmable logic controllers (PLC) programming.
    Assesses the efficiency of materials handling equipment and defines necessary modifications.
  • Works with equipment and software vendors on design specifications and improvements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and certifications related to safety management is required.
  • Develops annual facility operating budget for utilities, spare parts, training, and maintenance contracts and presents to management.
  • Develops and solicits bids from vendors for maintenance, janitorial, landscape and other contracts necessary to support all building and MHE systems.
  • Ensures compliance with all polices, responsible for document management of maintenance tasks, spare parts inventory and tools are recorded.
  • Ensure that building safety and security inspections are performed.
  • May be required to work various hours/shifts, such as nights and weekends as well as be on call to respond to downtime events.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred: BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Facilities Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in automated distribution warehouses.
  • Expertise in preventive maintenance, disaster planning, and automated systems.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, CAD layouts, and warehouse management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD knowledge preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and working at heights.

Work Environment:

  • Active warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures (heat/cold), moderate noise levels, and diesel fumes.
  • Regular interaction with moving mechanical equipment (forklifts/conveyors) and handled chemicals.
  • Work requires strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided.

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
