Overview

The International Sales Department at HarperCollins Publishers is looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join our team.  The International Sales Manager will be responsible for print and digital sales for the HCUS and HCUK trade lists in Latin America & the Caribbean. This person will be responsible for managing customer accounts, developing new business, and achieving/exceeding sales goals. This role will dually report to the Senior Director, International Sales in the US and the Open Market Head of Sales in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships and facilitate sales with wholesale, retail and digital accounts in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Achieve territory sales goals and growth plans.
  • Work closely with Online Sales Director (shared with HCCP) to maximize opportunities for HCUS and HCUK trade titles with Amazon Mexico.
  • Manage commissioned rep for the LATAM Educational market.
  • Work closely with HC Brazil team to explore opportunities for English-language sales
  • Work closely with Harper360 inventory manager to maintain inventory of key HCUK titles stocked in the US for sale in LATAM & the Caribbean.
  • Relay key title information to customers in a timely manner to capture sales opportunities.
  • Identify and grow new opportunities by maintaining close contact with market and trends.
  • Keep abreast of competitive publishing schedules and competitive information.
  • Work with International Marketing and Publicity team to secure advertisements, promotions and author events.
  • Assess viability of potential customers to create new business.
  • Work closely with HCCP LATAM team to organize our presence at Guadalajara Book Fair.
  • Travel up to 6 times per year to visit key customers, including attendance at Guadalajara Book Fair.
  • Work on other department projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • A 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years of publishing experience in a sales, marketing, and/or account management capacity
  • Previous management experience a plus
  • Detail-oriented, well organized, conscientious, able to set priorities and juggle multiple projects under pressure
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in Spanish required

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
