Harper Celebrate seeks a Senior Publicity Manager to create, lead, and execute strategies for our pipeline of daily readers, cookbooks, lifestyle titles, and illustrated and photographic nonfiction books (around 15 titles per year and growing). This position will also be in charge of publicity for the Jesus Calling devotional brand, which has sold more than 46 million copies to date, across both faith-based and secular media.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of media outlets, including less traditional avenues, such as podcasts, YouTube shows, Substack, influencer engagement, etc. They will be creative - able to adapt and change pitch strategies quickly to ensure maximal media coverage. They will also understand the deep value of cultivating relationships both internally and externally.
Experience working with author-driven lifestyle, cookbooks, and self-help books is strongly preferred. Please consider including in your cover letter examples of key projects and authors you have personally managed that include the types of books listed above.
Knowledge: Familiarity with MuckRack, NetGalley, and PodChaser a plus.
Work Experience: 5+ years working in public relations and/or transferrable work experience such as corporate communications.; 4-color book experience (including cookbooks) strongly preferred. Experience working with authors or high-profile personalities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of book publishing landscape, as well as, established media and independent bookstore contacts is a plus.
Skills:
The salary range for this position is $83,000 – $95,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
