Overview

Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, has an immediate opening for a Supervisor, Inventory on our 2nd shift. Must be able to work 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm along with occasional Saturdays.

 

The Supervisor, Inventory oversees inventory management and logistics operations in a fast-paced warehouse. This role leads a team to ensure inventory accuracy, optimize workflows, and drive efficiency, while collaborating with other departments to meet goals and maintain a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervises logistics functions to ensure daily targets are met, maintaining a strong floor presence and building personal relationships with associates.
  • Works collaboratively with other operations supervisors and teams to identify, analyze, and resolve production issues in a timely manner, ensuring no impact to the customer.
  • Partners with Human Resources in the hiring process, ensuring all new hires are properly trained in all relevant functions.
  • Drives a culture of accountability by setting clear expectations, consistently addressing performance issues, and promoting a strong sense of responsibility among team members.
  • Models effective leadership principles, supporting a positive culture through coaching, recognition, training, and associate engagement opportunities.
  • Participates on project teams that contribute to the achievement of strategic organizational goals.

Operational Management

  • Develops and demonstrates knowledge of logistical functions, including replenishment, full pallet pull processing, location audits, cycle counting, multishuttle induction and consolidation, return to warehouse, changeovers, and bulk/rack consolidation, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Balances operational, capacity, and staffing issues to achieve efficiency and staffing targets.
  • Effectively uses department budgets, input files, and production reports to make accurate decisions and provide actionable recommendations based on available data.
  • Drives continuous improvement by applying 6S, Lean Manufacturing principles, and associate engagement techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Contributes to setting strategic goals and improving operations to align with broader organizational targets.
  • Develops, administers, and updates department operating procedures, ensuring adherence to company policies and operational standards.

Customer Focus & Performance

  • Keeps the customer at the forefront by anticipating and meeting customer needs, building a customer-focused environment within the team.
  • Reports routinely on departmental quality, cost, and service performance, addressing exceptions with urgency.
  • Maintains a high level of technical competence, staying abreast of the latest trends, technologies (e.g., RF gun technology), and best practices in logistics and distribution.
  • Comes prepared for daily board and weekly operation meetings to discuss department status, updates, and upcoming focus areas.

Training, Development & Safety

  • Designs and implements ongoing training programs to support associate career growth and development.
  • Drives a safety-first culture, ensuring a safe working environment and continuous improvement of ergonomic conditions for all team members.
  • Administers company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and a safe, productive work environment for all associates.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Skills:

 

  • Associates degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field; Bachelors preferred. 5-7 years supervisory experience in inventory management or logistics, ideally within a fast-paced, automated distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular focus on Excel for reporting and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with inventory management tools, data analytics platforms, and reporting systems.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team, and strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement in operational processes and an ability to thrive in a fast-evolving environment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices, with a focus on minimizing risk and promoting an environment of safety and compliance.

  • Regularly required to bend, work at varying heights (on a Cherry Picker), and lift weights up to 30 lbs.

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000  Salary will commensurate with experience.
