We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Marketing Director who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is skilled at identifying trends, and has the creativity and expertise to promote books that will inspire readers. The ideal candidate will be an avid book reader, highly organized, detail oriented, tech savvy, an active member of the team, and possess a can-do attitude.

 

This is a hybrid position based out of our Nashville, TN office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads the title and brand marketing for 12-14 projects with the goal of meeting or beating the revenue and profit goals for each fiscal year.
  • Constantly innovates HCCP marketing strategy and practice to meet the demands of a rapidly changing marketplace, keeping up with the latest marketing trends, reaching consumers in both the faith-based and general markets.
  • Manages author relationships and ensures clear, effective project management across author and agency team members
  • Develops objectives and strategies to reach desired target markets through a variety of marketing and digital tactics.
  • Coordinates promotions with all sales channels and national retailers
  • Manages budget development and expense projections for assigned campaigns
  • Leverages best practices in digital (social media, search, email, etc.) and traditional (advertising, promotion, events) marketing methods to maximize unit sales and revenue for assigned front and backlist titles
  • Organizes national author tours and special events for major releases
  • Directs development of creative and sales assets to meet communications goals of marketing plans
  • Analyzes marketing campaign data and makes recommendations for adjustments and key learnings based on those results to ensure campaign success
  • Assists in the planning and preparation for all sales conferences, as well as presenting the marketing portion of certain titles during the conference.
  • Works with internal publicity to prepare marketing and publicity updates for distribution to internal stakeholders and manage external publicity firms.
  • Additional team responsibilities as assigned.
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of marketing experience required, with 2 + in a director role preferred.
  • Experience working with high-profile individuals and their teams
  • Ability to manage a range of marketing mediums (print, radio, digital, social media, direct mail, etc.)
  • Experience presenting marketing plans and updates to groups ranging from internal sales teams to external retailers to potential promotional partners.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field; Master’s Degree preferred

 

Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the theory and practice of consumer marketing and knowledge of best-practice consumer marketing strategies and tools; familiarity and comfort with core management principles and practices. Understanding of publicity, a plus. Direct publishing experience preferred.

  • Cooperate with brand stakeholders and creatives to achieve a better result
  • Ability to turn data and research into creative ideas
