Overview

The HarperOne Group is comprised of up four imprints: HarperOne; Amistad, HarperVia, and Harper Español, Together the HarperOne Group publishes books that represent a broad and diverse collection of voices, cultures, and perspectives and shares a commitment to publishing books that matter, enlighten, and entertain. 

 

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented intern for the publicity team. The ideal candidate is curious to learn about earned media and event planning and will be an active participant in various aspects of bringing our books to the attention of consumers. The candidate must be highly organized, an excellent writer and communicator, work under pressure and on deadlines, and able to work independently and with others.

 

The position reports to the director of publicity, but with an opportunity to work with and learn from all department members.

Responsibilities

  • Draft press releases, pitch letters, promotional materials
  • Research media outlets and generate media contact lists
  • Coordinate publicity mailings for book campaigns.
  • Administrative tasks include book mailings, updating the publicity database, updating author schedules
  • Helping create booking catalog

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2026 or 2027 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience. 
  • Candidates must be available to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 8 to August 13, 2026, at our New York City office. This internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • A passion for books is highly valued!  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe. AI programs a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
