The Publishing Intern will support both the marketing and editorial teams, with approximately 70% of their time devoted to marketing activities and 30% to editorial tasks. This role offers hands-on experience across departments and exposure to the full publishing process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and planning social media and email assets
  • Support logistics for marketing initiatives
  • Help with author relations and publicity tasks
  • Assist with copyediting and preparing content for production on the editorial side
  • Review project submissions and draft related materials
  • Attend book development and team meetings

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2026 or 2027 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience. 
  • Candidates must be available to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 8 to August 13, 2026. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are mandatory in-office days at our Nashville headquarters, while Mondays and Thursdays are remote workdays. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • A passion for chidlren's books is highly valued! 
  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Canva
  • Good people and communication skills; team player
