Overview

The Harper Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, is seeking a Marketing Intern this Spring!

 

The Harper Group is comprised of several imprints — flagship imprint Harper, as well as Harper Business, Broadside Books and Harper Influence —– and publishes a range of titles across most publishing categories from authors including Ann Patchett, Daniel Silva, Mitch Albom, Barbara Kingsolver, Harper Lee, Louise Erdrich and more.

 

The Harper Marketing department consists of ten dynamic and creative individuals, who work across all hardcover imprints and genres to implement widespread promotion and sales coverage for our titles. Projects may include influencer outreach, marketing research, social media, buzz mailings, list building and more.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a working understanding of the teams and tasks involved in publication of Harper’s hardcover books
  • Learn important publishing software programs and use them to assist in creating marketing copy, influencer outreach, administrative tasks, and other departmental functions
  • Assist with managing departmental accounts on Goodreads and NetGalley
  • Coordinate marketing mailings for buzz building campaigns to bookstores and influencers
  • Assist with digital marketing tasks including digital advertising, social media outreach, and other content creation to promote our books
  • Brainstorm and build lists for various methods of promotion, including book clubs, influencers and more.

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2026 or 2027 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience. 
  • Candidates must be available to work 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days, from February 9 to April 17, 2026, at the location specified in the job description. This internship is compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • A passion for books is highly valued! 
  • Proactive and attentive to detail
  • Engaged and thoughtful communicator willing to coordinate cross-departmental work
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and Canva a plus.
