The Marketing & Publicity Associate provides support for the Nelson Books marketing and PR team across a wide sampling of marketing work and campaigns as we seek to bring life-changing messages to readers.

 

This is a hybrid position based out of our Nashville, TN office.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Marketing Team by preparing presentations, creating marketing assets, setting up digital ads, and helping to increase sales for the thousands of books on the Nelson Books frontlist and backlist.
  • Coordinate support functions for the marketing team: process invoices, set up new vendors in system, manage department calendar and email inbox, send out book mailings, and assist with sales conference videos
  • Assist marketers with the creation of marketing plans and execution of those plans
  • Assist with digital marketing promotional efforts across Meta, Amazon, Google, TikTok, Spotify, and YouTube
  • Assist PR team with media mailings, galleys, and other tasks in order to increasing author awareness
  • Pitch a wide array of media on publicity opportunities for our backlist titles
  • Manage devotionals and reading plan content creation for YouVersion and other media outlets
  • Assist with coordinating virtual and in-person book launch and book signing events
  • Work in industry systems, such as Edelweiss, to add and update book and marketing data
  • Manage author/agent requests for advanced reader copies (ARCs)
  • Organize and manage sample and influencer mailings and letters
  • Submit our books for consideration for internal promotional recommendations and external book award programs
  • Organize and package book assets (graphics, video, and content) to share with authors as well as store in our online asset management platforms (Cumulus)
  • Work with design teams to create promotional kits for books as well as marketing materials for promotions and book tours

Qualifications

Knowledge/Work Experience: 1-2 years marketing or PR experience required with at least 1 year agency or in-house marketing or publicity experience preferred.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, public relations, communications, digital communications, or related discipline is preferred.

 

Industry Knowledge: Experience and/or interest in publishing a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, time management skills with attention to detail, and ability to set priorities
  • Proficiency with Canva, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Experience in Airtable, Asana, or Basecamp a plus
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, or Amazon Ads a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently based on the outlined processes and procedures of our department
  • Strong communication skills to articulate needs, provide status updates, and work with cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to help and solve problems
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • FinalCut Studio, Premier Pro, iMovie, or other video editing and creation software, experience is a plus but not required
