Overview

The HarperOne Group seeks a Marketing Assistant for its flagship imprint, HarperOne. This role assists and reports to the VP, Deputy Publisher and supports the marketing team in a variety of tasks including monitoring seasonal deadlines, creating presentations, tracking expenses, data entry, ordering materials, light research, and processing mailings. The role requires a skilled communicator who can manage deadlines, maintain spreadsheets, schedule meetings, and take meticulous notes.

This is a hybrid position based in the San Francisco Bay Area

Responsibilities

  • Meeting Coordination: Schedule and organize meetings, video conferences, and calls; prepare agendas and materials, and distribute notes effectively.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general admin support for the deputy publisher including expense report/s, assist with special projects
  • Marketing Campaigns: Input seasonal marketing data and gather/prepare/upload assets for marketing, support marketing team on outreach, budget tracking, light research, etc.
  • Sales Materials: Oversee seasonal deadlines for sales materials. Prep for sales meetings, catalog, etc. Gather agenda and develop materials (decks, sell sheets, etc.) for weekly and seasonal sales meetings. 
  • General Support: Help coordinate mailings, order occasional supplies, assist with special events. Participate in a variety of additional support projects for deputy publisher and marketing

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including strong follow-up and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team across a variety of levels and roles
  • Strong knowledge of social media and web technologies (e.g. Canva, Asana, Facebook, Shortstack, Instagram, BlueSky, Substack, TikTok)
  • Prior internship experience or demonstrated interest in publishing and/or consumer marketing

The salary for this position is $50,000-$51,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
