Overview

HarperAudio is looking to hire a Producer. We’re a nimble, dynamic team that oversees the production of all HarperCollins North American audiobooks. Spanning a wide range of genres, you’ll get to work with best-selling authors and be a part of an amazing team of audiobook professionals.

 

A little about you: You love the spoken word both as a creative and as a listener. For you, there’s no greater rush than assembling the perfect team for a project. You’re detailed oriented, an excellent communicator, and great at managing competing deadlines. You get excited about pushing the audiobook format forward.

 

The job: Your title list will consist of fiction and some non-fiction (mostly children’s, teen, and young adult). You’ll get to work on single voice narration, multicast productions, author narrations, and more. You will manage relationships with various outside producers and work closely with the print publishing teams.

 

Responsibilities

You will manage the production of a high volume of titles per year. The ability to handle multiple deadlines and track simultaneous projects is a must. Producers are the main contact and lead for their titles so there should be a strong sense of ownership and responsibility to carry each project across the finish line while meeting HarperAudio’s standards.

  • Source, engage, and foster good working relationships with external production vendors and outside contractors, including narrators, recording & production studios, directors, etc.
  • Conduct preliminary research for assigned titles and present production budgets to AP and Editorial.
  • Develop casting lists and collaborate with editors and authors to find the right voice for your titles. Utilizing industry resources will be necessary.
  • Work with the other producers to expand our narrator talent pool.
  • Oversee projects from start to finish while maintaining a high level of production quality.
  • Ensure that the audiobook production runs on schedule and within budget, troubleshooting any problems that may arise by working closely with the in-house production team to create solutions.
  • Cultivate relationships with editors, authors, and agents.
  • Manage other misc. aspects of production (adaptations, scripts abridgements, invoice processing, etc.).
  • Stay updated on industry trends to help bring new ideas and discussions to the team and your projects.
  • Direct select titles as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of audiobook publishing experience
  • Ability to set priorities and problem solve under pressure
  • Is a self-starter and strong team member
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and well-organized, with strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, skilled at Excel
  • Conversational or fluent in Spanish, a plus

The salary for this position is $65,000-$72,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
