Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Contracts Manager to join its fast-paced and dynamic Contracts Department. This position is responsible for preparing contracts and amendments for imprints in the Children’s publishing group.

Hybrid NYC or remote status will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, drafts, negotiates, and finalizes author contracts and amendments and other contracts as needed for the Children's publishing group.
  • Reviews requests submitted by editors.
  • Ensures effective operations by interfacing with Editorial, Royalty, Publishing Operations and Finance Departments.
  • Interprets contract details to answer queries from internal personnel and third parties.
  • Advises on author estate matters as required.
  • Performs other tasks as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of prior independent contracts drafting and negotiating experience in the Contracts Department of a book publisher or other relevant experience required
  • Strong verbal, communication, drafting and negotiating skills
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability
  • Able to work independently and set priorities under pressure

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
