Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to conceive and execute the marketing campaigns for an assigned list of non-fiction books for Hanover Square Press and Park Row Books, imprints of Harlequin Trade Publishing at HarperCollins Publishers.

Responsibilities

Non-Fiction Marketing Strategy & Execution:

  • Plan, develop and execute marketing campaigns for HTP Non-Fiction list:
    • Develop a clear and strategic vision for each campaign that includes audience segmentation, promotional timelines and key tactics to drive sales within each audience segment.
    • Use internal and external analysis and data management tools to make strategic, data driven decisions.
    • Evolve promotional plans based on marketplace trends, emerging opportunities and imprint and campaign results.
    • Identifies promotional backlist opportunities for titles/authors, working closely with Editorial, Marketing, Art and Sales to ensure visibility of assets and inclusion in seasonal programs.
  • Manages budgets for assigned titles and tracks performance to budget
  • Manages marketing staff including performance appraisals and effective coaching.
  • Communicates detailed campaign updates directly to editors, publicists, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors. Presents campaigns formally in key meetings.
  • Advises authors on building and optimizing their social media presence and overall platform. Hands-on with authors where necessary.
  • Develops a variety of content for campaigns that can include, but is not limited to, – sell sheets for reps and accounts, social media post copy and images, infographics, and email blast copy for consumer facing promotion
  • Actively participates in all imprint-wide marketing discussions related to titles and campaigns.
  • Participates in the planning and preparation for all seasonal sales meetings.
  • Coordinates marketing efforts with publicists on each campaign.
  • Secures title specific as well as imprint-wide cross promotional partnerships with third party brands and companies.
  • Occasional attendance at Industry trade shows and book tour events.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-fiction publishing experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
  • A positive, can-do attitude, with the ability to take initiative, effectively work with cross-functional teams and prioritize multiple projects under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital publishing, book marketing, and social media landscape
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of MarTech tools such as Meltwater, SparkToro, Trello and Canva

The salary for this position is $80,000-$90,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
