Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Licensed Works Liaison for our North America Royalties Department.

 

In this role, you will be the main point of contact for managing our contractual relationships with specific brand licensors. You will provide periodic reporting, reconcile accounting and payments according to contract terms, research discrepancies, and maintain licensee specific metadata. You will be responsible for ensuring completeness of reporting against licensee requirements as well as maintenance, where required, of third-party database submissions and portal uploads. This is a dynamic role and responsibilities will be adjusted as brand licensing requirements change and adapt over time.

Responsibilities

  • Validate contract entry of royalty related information in royalty systems
  • Report according to individual contract terms and portal requirements
  • Manage additional journal entries to adjust accruals (system statements) against portal calculations
  • Liaise with representatives for each Licensor to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Research discrepancies between uploaded data and HarperCollins calculations
  • Prepare and populate templates for sales and royalty forecasting according to contract terms
  • Work with IT to develop standard data templates to work toward automation of data feeds for Licensor requirements
  • Work with contracts groups to ensure HarperCollins is able to comply with all agreed terms
  • Prepare reconciliation reports as required to support Licensor claims
  • Analyze product and sales data coming into royalty systems for accuracy
  • Maintain supplemental metadata to facilitate Licensor reporting
  • Support inquiries, updates, and other requests from Licensors

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field is strongly preferred 
  • Four years’ experience working in corporate accounting, finance, or royalty department in a staff accounting role. Knowledge of royalty accounting or data warehouse systems preferred 
  • Ability to learn new software and implement changes in accounting system
  • Excellent analytic skills, ability to identify variances or unusual trends that will require further investigation
  • Ability to exercise professionalism, poise and tact in all verbal and written correspondence
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to set priorities
  • Willingness to take initiative and to complete projects under general supervision
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and MS Excel
  • Good judgment and practicality

 The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $72,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.  As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates.  The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
