HarperChristian Resources (HCR) is looking for an Associate Acquisitions Editor to join our dynamic team. HCR creates original Bible study content and Bible study resources based on book content published by Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, as well as other Christian trade book publishers. We publish video Bible studies, Bible study guides, small group study guides, ministry programs, and church campaigns in both print and digital formats.
The Associate Acquisitions Editor will assist the HCR Acquisition Editors (AE’s) in overseeing and managing new titles from Pub Board acceptance through editorial process management to printer-ready files. In addition, this key role will have the opportunity to help acquire strategic author and ministry partner Bible study content. The Associate Acquisitions Editor will interface with the HCR editorial, marketing, and creative team members as well as shared service areas of the company to support best tools, processes, and practices. The role will also assist the VP/Publisher as needed.
Knowledge:
Work Experience: Minimum 3-years’ editorial experience or other relevant publishing experience, required. Acquisitions or agenting experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in English, Writing, Journalism, Publishing, or equivalent degree required.
Industry Knowledge: General knowledge of the book creation process, helpful. Working knowledge of the Christian publishing industry and marketplace, strongly preferred.
Skills:
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
