The HarperOne Group is currently seeking an Assistant Designer or Designer (title dependent on experience) to assist in the design and creation of digital and print marketing materials. In this role you will work with all of the HarperOne Group imprints - Amistad, HarperVia, HarperCollins Español, and HarperOne. The ideal candidate will be creative, highly collaborative, and motivated by a fast-paced environment.  

Responsibilities

  • Provides design support for campaigns and campaign initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively and closely with Art Director and all members of design, editorial, and print production teams.
  • Under general supervision, designs and handles the below projects across digital and print platforms:
    • sales and marketing materials
    • materials that enhance the brand and the overall consumer experience
    • designs for corporate projects
    • graphics for social media
    • animated and static online ads, e-blasts, and e-newsletters
  • Maintains branding for books and series throughout trade and consumer advertising, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing teams to conceptualize projects and execute designs effectively.
  • Prepares press-ready files; coordinates design instructions for pre-production handoffs and reviews and markups on mechanicals and proofs.
  • Engages in special projects and requests from Art department, which may include cover design, mechanical design, brochure design, etc.
  • Executes a broad range of design styles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of design experience required
  • Advertising and/or promotional design experience recommended
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities under pressure
  • Strong design competence with Adobe programs, proficient in Creative Cloud/Suite
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask under tight deadlines
  • Interest in marketing trends and campaign deliverables
  • Knowledge of pre-press, 4-color, 2-color and specialty printing processes a plus
  • Interest in animation a plus
  • Familiarity with HTML a plus

The salary range for this position is $49,500-$60,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
