We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide support for the Avon and William Morrow imprints. The position involves assisting two Executive Editors with daily administrative and editorial responsibilities. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of genres ranging from upmarket women’s fiction to suspense and literary fiction. 

Responsibilities

  • Performs, under minimal supervision, administrative and editorial duties including: corresponding with authors and agents, utilizing HarperCollins' content management systems, and facilitating mailings.
  • Logs and evaluates submissions.
  • Drafts contract and p&l requests.
  • Researches competitive titles and author history.
  • Monitors production schedules for supervisors’ books; maintains communication between production, design, and managing editorial to keep books on schedule.
  • Acts as a liaison with publicity, marketing, legal, contracts, and accounts payable departments.
  • Routes flap copy, catalog copy, fact sheets, and other materials as needed.
  • Prepares manuscripts for transmittal and for reprints.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with social media platforms a plus
  • A strong interest in upmarket women’s fiction, suspense/thriller/mystery, historical fiction, literary fiction, and narrative non-fiction

The salary for this position is $47,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
