The William Morrow Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, is seeking a creative and energetic individual to join the marketing department as a Marketing Assistant.  The Morrow Group is comprised of several imprints – flagship imprint William Morrow, as well as Dey Street Books, Mariner Books, Morrow Lifestyle and Avon Books – and publishes a range of titles across most publishing categories.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports Dey Street Senior Marketing Director seasonally with campaigns focused on non-fiction and lifestyle titles, in addition to executing several solo title campaigns for the Morrow Group every season.
  • Liaises with publicity, editorial, ad/promo, sales, and digital marketing on campaign execution.
  • Performs general administrative duties including mailings, scheduling meetings, and other departmental tasks.
  • Supports imprint with seasonal meeting tasks and preparation.
  • Coordinates imprint email promotions with the HarperCollins digital team.
  • Handles Dey Street’s website and social media accounts, developing a content schedule for the imprint’s platforms, maintaining a consistent brand voice and identity, and cross-promoting titles with several imprints.
  • Writes copy and provides design direction for social media posts/assets, website, trade and consumer letters, email blasts, newsletters, and other marketing assets.
  • Liaises with Morrow Group’s Associate Director of Social Marketing on social media and influencer strategy across all imprints.
  • Oversees all Book Influencer outreach.
    • Develops relationships with and proactively pitch to a strategic list of Bookstagrammers and book influencers on Facebook, Twitter and TikTok, starting at galley stage and following through to publication.
    • Creates databases of social media book influencers.
    • Fields galley/finished books and organize into streamlined mailings.
  • Schedules and books online/social media advertising campaigns, and coordinate ebook and backlist promotions, sweepstakes and giveaways.   

 

Qualifications

  • Marketing experience preferred, prior internship experience in publishing and/or marketing a plus
  • A positive, can-do attitude and motivated self-starter with a love for books
  • Strong knowledge of social media and web programs (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to department goals
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
  • A keen eye for design, as well as a knowledge of basic HTML and Photoshop a plus 
  • College degree or equivalent work experience

 

This role is currently based out of New York, New York. You will need to commute to the office when it reopens.
