HarperChristian Resources is looking for an Editorial Coordinator to join their dynamic team. HarperChristian Resources creates resources based off of book content published by Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, as well as other Christian trade book publishers. We publish video Bible studies, Bible study guides, small group study guides, ministry programs, and church campaigns in both print and digital formats.


Assist the Senior Managing Editor (SME) in overseeing and managing new titles from Pub Board acceptance through editorial process management to printer-ready files.  Interface with the Curriculum Group’s editorial, marketing, and creative team members as well as shared service areas of the company to support best tools, processes, and practices.  Assist VP/Publisher and SME with administrative tasks as needed.


  • Perform editorial tasks in content development area, including but not limited to: format proofreading, prepress checks, preparing copyright pages and pagination guides, and small proofreading jobs.
  • Oversee the cover routing process and manage final stages of manuscript approval, ensuring editorial excellence by proofreading product packaging, front and back matter, and routings.
  • Provide backup to the SME and assist in tasks including, but not limited to: AP&L copy and distribution, title setups, completing and submitting Copyright Registration Notice Form, managing the entire CIP implementation process.
  • Liaise with vendors and accounts payable to onboard new vendors into our systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Work with the royalties department to ensure author contracts are fully executed and correct advances are paid to authors and agents.
  • Responsible for all metadata and cataloging, digital file delivery, and digital sales reports.
  • Manage all catalog development and elements for Curriculum including updating digital catalog, quarterly sales catalog, retailer catalogs, and ChurchSource catalog.
  • Manage relationships with and assignment of freelancers with respect to editorial, copywriting, and marketing assignments.
  • Take and distribute notes for Production Rounds, Second Alignment & Creative Strategy, staff, and publishing meetings.
  • Pub Cycle Forums – Responsible for pulling PCF query for the Curriculum team and ensuring all missing fields are handled by the deadlines. Ensure files are posted to the Sales folders by the deadlines. Assist Senior Managing Editor, Publishing, and Marketing Team members with reviewing PCF slides to ensure accuracy of all data and images and make updates to MDM records as needed.
  • Convert manuscript files, reformat if necessary, and archive in appropriate directories.
  • Manage the assignment, flow, mailing or front desk pickup, evaluation, and payment of editorial work assigned to freelancers, and monitor and negotiate freelancer rates in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Comprehensive Data Checks – In conjunction with the Sales Conference Cycle, which occurs three times annually, partner with the managing editor to ensure all data is thoroughly reviewed and updates are made in a timely, consistent, and comprehensive manner.
  • Seek out and maintain a file of new freelancers, test and evaluate their potential, negotiate rates, and initiate/complete process for enlisting them as Independent Contractors.
  • Manage the process for reprint corrections from beginning to end.
  • Receive reprint and new copies of books and distribute accordingly.
  • Field and research product queries from HCCP website email owners, Customer Service, etc.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company standards for all products.


Knowledge/Work Experience: Experience in publishing/editorial work preferred; experience in project management preferred


Education: B.A. in English, Communications, Marketing or a related area


Industry Knowledge: Clear understanding of the Christian publishing industry preferred.
