Key Account Manager, International Sales

HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus are looking for a seasoned sales professional to manage a portfolio of accounts in major English language markets outside the US. This person should have experience working with business professionals in other countries and be able to adapt to cultural difference and business practices. A passion for international travel and engaging with people from varied backgrounds is a plus.


This position is responsible for all sales and promotions of company products with distributors and retailers in other countries; managing all aspects of relationships with accounts while cultivating strong relationships with buyers; develop, plan, and implement promotions with key accounts to achieve sales goals; meeting and achieving all sales and financial budget goals including approved advertising and travel expenses. This position will also assist VP of International Sales with Budgeting and Forecasting of titles and attend publishing and product development meetings as necessary.


  • Oversee sales, promotions, and direct account relations for HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus in assigned territories outside the US to be determined.
  • Present new titles to international retailers and distributors in assigned countries with a sensitivity to the type of content that will resonate in specific countries and account types.
  • Create and implement sales strategies and promotional plans to grow sales in all markets.
  • Meet regularly with key accounts via MS Teams and travel to assigned territories a minimum of once per year.
  • Attend various trade shows and book fairs as requested.  May include London Book Fair and Frankfurt book Fair.
  • Assist VP of Export with new title budgeting and forecasting.
  • Attend publishing and product development meetings as necessary
  • Collaborate with International Marketing Director, Publishing teams, and accounts to implement marketing and publicity plans.
  • Liaise with custom product team to manage custom opportunities for international accounts.
  • Any other task or assignment deemed necessary 


Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience.

National Account level experience preferred but not required.

International sales experience is a plus!


Education: Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing or equivalent work experience preferred.


Industry Knowledge: Good working knowledge of the publishing industry.

Knowledge of the Christian and general trade publishing business in International markets highly desired.  


Skills: Candidate must possess excellent people skills.

Strong Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are a must.

Confidence making sales pitches and presentations required.

Must be able to plan and organize their work and follow through as necessary.
