Overview

This position is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop skills and become a JD Edwards Developer. JD Edwards is a major commercial enterprise ERP system that is used at HarperCollins to run order to cash, procurement and financials. The position will initial entail development and migration of SSIS packages that provide interface between JD Edwards and external systems and clients. The medium-term goal 3-6 months is to transition into JD Edwards while maintaining a productive role in the SSIS arena. Long term the position will predominately focus in JD Edwards, with an as needed involvement within the SSIS development group.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Software testing and debugging.
  • Program documentation
  • Troubleshoot and identify systems problems and suggest alternative solutions.
  • Support the daily, weekly and monthly production processes of the SSIS and JD Edwards system, and help identify and correct any issues that arise.
  • Work with Business Analysts and others to design and develop system solutions
  • Adhere to all HarperCollins policies and procedures for system change and development, including documentation and promote procedures.
  • Keep management informed of progress on all key projects.
  • Align business requirements to functionality in the core system.
  • Position reports into the organization of the Director of ERP Development.
  • Training to assist with the transition to JD Edwards toolset development will be provided.
  • Hands on training will form part of the JD Edwards knowledge transfer working in a collaborative team with experienced JD Edwards developers.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision essential.
  • Five years’ experience programming in SSIS and Visual Development tools
  • Experience of working with Business processes, like order to cash and procurement and financials
  • C++ programming experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL database tools.
  • Experience of business processes and business database concepts,       for example customer master, inventory, warehousing, sales etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Strong desire and willingness to learn and develop skills in new and different technologies.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, including contribution of ideas and experience.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision essential.
