Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Consolidations Accountant for our office on Montage Mountain in Moosic, PA.  

 

The Consolidations Accountant will assist with the HarperCollins quarterly worldwide consolidation and quarterly News Corp reporting. The Consolidations Accountant will perform a variety of accounting tasks including preparing journal entries and rollforward schedules, reconciling various balance sheet accounts, and preparing work-papers and internal schedules based on financial results.  Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience working with foreign currency and inter-company accounts. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly submissions from foreign subsidiaries to verify the accuracy of all data received and to ascertain those submissions are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Reconcile internal reporting to financials submitted to News Corp.
  • Reconcile world-wide inter-company balances.
  • Prepare consolidating year-end disclosure information and information required by News Corp for 10-K reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries and complete assigned reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely submission of governmental reporting required by News Corp.
  • Prepare schedules for audit and SOX requirements related to the consolidation.
  • Assist with other responsibilities within the financial reporting department as needed. 
  • Assist with specialized projects on an as needed basis in conjunction with management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting plus two to three years prior accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management is a plus
  • Experience using an on-line general ledger system is required.
  • Attention to details and accuracy, planning and organizing, information and task monitoring.
  • Strong technical accounting skills including accounting for intercompany accounts and foreign currency transactions.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines is required.
  • Reports to supervisor of consolidations
  • Expected to be pro-active on issues and coordinate actions with supervisor of consolidations
