We are searching for an enthusiastic communications and events professional to join our team as our next Corporate Communications Associate!


This cross-functional position will support both HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus in project management for marketing event, trade show, and conference needs while also being highly involved in initiatives that support the company’s corporate communication strategy.  Successful candidates will be highly organized, multi-taskers who have an attention for detail. The Corporate Communications Associate should enjoy creative work that requires collaboration across the organization while also being able to self-manage event and editorial calendars as part of a supportive role for the entire communications team. This individual will also be responsible for the development, coordination and roll out of our author awards program for both HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus. Experience with Photoshop, Canva, and social media scheduling platforms such as Falcon Social, HootSuite, Later, or comparable is preferred.


  • Coordinate event sponsorship opportunities across all marketing divisions; manage event budget and reporting, including a moratorium outlook and presentation after events and conferences.
  • Hold regular event and sponsorship meetings to coordinate details for successful execution.
  • Analyze event opportunities and evaluate responsiveness based on overall company strategy. 
  • Assist sales channel with various internal sales events, scheduling, and presentation coordination. 
  • Travel to and manage booth set up and break down at major trade show events, as selected by Vice President of Corporate Communications.
  • Work with vendors and coordinate with catering companies, A/V companies and essential event staff.
  • Develop employee event calendar and manage internal events which may include author visits and appreciation events.
  • Develop and maintain companywide author awards program, coordinating between internal graphics design team, external vendors, and publishing teams.
  • Assist communications team with editorial responsibilities including updating communications collateral and marketing materials including but not limited to company newsletters, magazines, and branding materials.
  • Process department invoices, charitable giving requests, and team expenses and subscriptions.
  • Assist with company wide announcements including bestseller tracking information, quarterly milestone newsletter, media monitoring, and graphic designs for social engagement.
  • Writer and contributor for communication and marketing blogs.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft suite of Office products and Outlook including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience directing meetings, keeping meeting minutes and developing professional emails; experience working with vendor contracts and conference specifications.  Proficiency in creating presentations via Powerpoint and business writing experience a must; project management tools preferred.


Work Experience: 3+ years professional work experience in events, marketing, and/or communications; publishing experience helpful, writing and editorial experience helpful.


Education: 4-year degree required; concentration in communications, marketing, event management, or other relatable field.


Industry Knowledge: Publishing experience or high level of industry knowledge preferred.


Skills: High level of tactical organization, working with spreadsheets and event specifications; Photoshop experience or graphic tools required; works well under pressure and multi-tasking; good problem-solver and works well independently as well as with large groups; technically savvy. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
