We are currently seeking a publicist to join our team. The Fiction team manages Thomas Nelson, Zondervan, and Harper Muse imprints and is proud to publish both Christian and general-market titles by bestselling authors including but not limited to, Patti Callahan, Charles Martin, Colleen Coble, Lauren Denton, Angela Jackson-Brown, Terri Blackstock, and Sean Dietrich, as well as numerous others.


The Publicist will assist in the development and execution of cohesive and award-winning publicity strategies for select Thomas Nelson, Zondervan, and Harper Muse Fiction titles.


  • Assist in the planning and execution of PR campaigns for select fiction titles.
  • Develop pitches, press releases, media alerts, and other publicity materials relating to a book’s campaign.
  • Create media lists and conduct media outreach and follow-ups geared toward generating publicity.
  • Maintain relationships with key media contacts on a national, regional, and local level; continuously research new outlets for possible coverage.
  • Develop marketing and publicity updates that effectively communicate media opportunities with sales.
  • Become a trusted resource for producers, editors, writers, and reporters by providing relevant information, sources, books, and authors.
  • Track media activities and coverage and update sales force, authors, and internal personnel.
  • Leverage social media to create awareness and buzz around a book’s release, both with major traditional media outlets and bloggers.
  • Coordinate social media and blog tours via select third-party vendors.
  • Manage the early reader review process via sites including NetGalley and Edelweiss.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing important data for author book signings, events, and tours.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of samples, final copies, and other materials to key contacts.
  • Contribute to select marketing tactics that create content to increase the visibility of our author’s books.


Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years prior work experience in publicity, with an emphasis placed on booking top-tier media in both traditional and digital outlets.


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.


Industry Knowledge: Keen understanding of publicity and its function is required. Established media contacts in Christian and general market media arenas a plus. Book publishing experience preferred but not required.



  • Working knowledge of crafting and delivering professional pitches and news releases to media outlets.  Experience pitching to national media, a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to write strong and effective media pitches, press releases, and media alerts.
  • Knowledge of media contact and engagement platforms such as MuckRack and Cision preferred.
  • Proven success with digital PR outlets, including bloggers and social media influencers preferred.
  • Experience in publishing/entertainment publicity preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the media landscape and a familiarity with book reviewers, magazine editors, and bloggers.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically, and proactively.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Basic budget skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
