Manager, Marketing (Social Media)

HarperCollins Children’s Books is seeking a talented, energetic social media marketing manager to lead the company’s engagement with readers through social media channels including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat. Leveraging content from thousands of books as well as leaning into key trends and values of the YA book community on social, the successful candidate will identify creative opportunities to broaden engagement with readers across our key brands and demographics – HarperKids (early readers), Shelf Stuff (middle grade readers), and Epic Reads (teen readers). This position will report to the Director of Digital Marketing and manage a direct report. The right candidate is an active user of social media platforms, has unique insights into the GenZ audience and what they care about, and has a natural ability to both create and be featured in meaningful and engaging content.


  • Own the full lifecycle of social channels: strategy and planning, content creation, publishing, analytics and community management
  • Set goals & performance metrics to measure success, track and report on performance on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Develop and manage new social media series, franchises, and programming across platforms that are innovative, grow our following, and yield significant referral traffic
  • Hone the HarperKids, Shelf Stuff, and Epic Reads voices and visual presentations on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and others (this person will create a new social style guide that will be the team’s point of reference)
  • Co-manage paid influencer network, working with influencers for content features and promotional opportunities
  • Potential to be featured as a recurring host of certain social media series and programming across platforms where appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with brand marketing teams, authors, and creative/video teams to execute cohesive campaigns across the organization, and help them to better understand what will amuse, inform, and entertain our readers
  • Manage weekly and monthly content calendars and work cross-functionally to execute
  • Assumes all management responsibilities for direct report


  • 3+ years’ experience creating content, growing, and managing social channels for a brand
  • Demonstrated and advanced understanding of Wordpress, EX.CO, photography, videography, Lightroom, and Photoshop editing skills
  • Excellent editorial judgment, writing skills, and ability to capture a brand’s voice with attention-grabbing copy
  • Awareness of current culture, values, and trends as they relate to early age, middle grade, and teen readers
  • Demonstrated sense of how to use social content to market and build a brand
  • On-camera experience and ability to be featured in social media programming
  • Experience managing influencers in a paid capacity and strong knowledge of up-and-coming talent
  • Results-driven, organized, and self-motivated, with strong organizational and time-management skills; excited to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated Knowledge using social media management and analytical tools (Salesforce, Falcon, Hootsuite, Dash Hudson, or the like) for listening, scheduling, engaging, and reporting
  • Ability to present analyses to all levels of management
  • Ability to communicate with sensitive language/around delicate subjects
  • Prior management experience a plus
