We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join our Broadside imprint! The Editorial Assistant will provide support to a VP/Editorial Director. This role will work on a wide variety of titles for the Broadside and Harper imprints, including conservative politics, sports, history, economics, and memoir from cable news personalities, award-winning journalists, and bestselling authors.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in all stages of acquisition and publication, including acquisition forms such as P&L requests, completing and routing contract requests, writing fact sheet copy, reviewing catalog and flap copy.
  • Corresponds directly with authors, agents, and staff in other departments.
  • Provides editorial input, transmits manuscripts to production, manage editorial schedules for all projects.
  • Reads submissions and writes reader reports.
  • Provides administrative support including answer phones, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and appointments, maintaining editorial files.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with strong follow-through skills
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Creative self-starter with a love for books

This role is currently based out of New York, New York. You will need to commute to the office when it reopens.
