Senior Publicist - Harlequin Trade

The Harlequin Trade publicity team is currently seeking a Senior Publicist! Reporting directly to the Senior Publicity Manager, the Senior Publicist leads publicity efforts for Harlequin Trade Publishing hardcover and trade titles among our Graydon House, Hanover Square Press, Park Row Books, and MIRA imprints for bestselling and award-winning authors such as Pam Jenoff, Dan Abrams, Tarryn Fisher and others.  Responsibilities include title publicity, press materials creation, trend-spotting, media networking and pitching, and booking author tours and special events, virtually and in-person. 


  • Lead publicity efforts on a wide array of fiction and non-fiction within Harlequin’s imprints Graydon House, Hanover Square Press, Park Row Books, and MIRA imprints to secure media coverage.
  • Research, organize and execute media campaigns, online reviews and features, television and radio interviews, implement review copy mailings, influencer tours (blog/Instagram), and manage media lists.
  • Create innovative press materials including researching media contacts and trends, and maintaining on-going relationships with key journalists, top book reviewers/producers and trade industry reporters.
  • Assemble all logistics of multi-city book tours, including coordinating book signings and media in the tour markets, and handling travel arrangements, currently virtually.
  • Cultivate and maintain author relationships as part of title specific publicity efforts.
  • Participate in and present our titles externally at industry conferences.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders – leadership team, editorial, marketing, sales, etc. to maximize publicity support.


  • 3-5 years of prior work experience in trade book publishing publicity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal, persuasion and problem-solving skills, with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings (regardless of audience)
  • Solid contacts and relationships in the media/press community and with key book publishing media, nationally and regionally
  • Proven track record in publicizing: literary & commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction
  • An understanding of the digital media space, including bloggers and social media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including a basic understanding of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • This position operates in an open concept office environment with the ability to periodically work from home
  • Less than 5% travel annually is required within North America, via plane, train or car

This role is currently based out of New York, New York. You will need to commute to the office when it reopens.
