HarperCollins General Books Group is currently seeking a Designer who is sharp, creative, and highly-motivated. The Designer will use print and digital experience to actively contribute to new work and ensure that the integrity of our brands is present in all facets across platforms. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and can work cohesively with the marketing, creative, operations and digital teams in a fast-paced environment.


  • Under supervision, designs and handles projects across digital and print platforms.
  • Maintains branding for books and series throughout trade and consumer advertising, social media and promotional materials.
    • Generates animated and static online ads, e-blasts and e-newsletters via .GIF and HTML5.
    • Creates posters, brochures, discussion guides and teaching materials.
    • Makes graphics for social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc).
    • Designs sales and marketing materials for annual conventions and cons.
    • Designs materials that enhance the brand and the overall consumer experience.
  • Designs book list ads, catalogue, and create designs for corporate projects.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing teams and to conceptualize projects and execute designs effectively.
  • Uses creative and technical processes to explore, understand and use new software and other technological advancements related to our business.
  • Creates design instructions clearly for pre-production handoffs and review and mark up call-outs on mechanicals and proofs.


  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years design experience
  • Excellent Mac skills and design skills using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using HTML5 and Print Layout required
  • Experience with AfterEffects and Google Web Designer strongly preferred
  • Experience with branding and packaging design
  • Prior experience with animation
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be creative, adaptable, and have a strong work-ethic
  • Ability to prioritize and perform under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
