HarperCollins Children’s Books is seeking a creative, organized, and dynamic Marketing Manager (Subscription) to oversee the strategy and day-to-day marketing needs for HarperCollins Children’s I Can Read! subscription box and developing subscription box programs.  Duties include directing content creative, social media marketing strategy, and ongoing digital and advertising campaigns to promote the program. This will include creative copywriting, advertising and social media strategy development, and routing and organizing all materials for approvals. This role will report to Senior Director, Marketing for HarperCollins Children’s. We are looking for an incredibly detail-oriented, creative, proactive, and strategic professional who is a self-starter with a background in subscription box service marketing who can multi-task, set priorities, and manage a multitude of complex projects with several internal and outside parties on tight timelines.


  • Brainstorm, develop, and execute all marketing support for the ICR! subscription box service.
  • Manage overall relationship with external vendor for subscription box service including managing all meetings, determining action points, and day-to-day communication.
  • Manage all creative inserts and marketing materials for the subscription box service.
  • Oversee the social media and advertising strategy for the box service, under guidance from Senior Director, Digital Marketing, setting KPIs tied to ongoing performance.
  • Coordinate cross-promotion with category marketing teams to promote box service, including partnership opportunities and bigger brand promotions.
  • Develop product positioning and brand messaging, utilizing digital as well as traditional media.
  • Work closely with authors as appropriate to promote the subscription service.
  • Write and advise on ad copy and short- and long-form content for social media around service (tweets, blogs, etc.).
  • Serve as primary contact in development of advertising strategy for subscription box service.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Directors and category teams to shape overall marketing strategy and to execute larger initiatives.
  • Communicate ongoing marketing programs around subscription box service to editorial, marketing, publicity, and sales departments.
  • Review and share post-mortem analysis of marketing efforts as needed to internal and external parties.


  • 2-3+ years of experience in marketing at an eCommerce business, with subscription box marketing experience as a strong preference; children’s entertainment or brand experience a plus
  • Excellent writing skills, including ability to write in a voice appealing to parents
  • Experience managing or working with external vendors
  • Experience working on compelling campaigns to reach a consumer audience
  • Excellent project management, communication, budget management, organizational, prioritization and presentation skills a must
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Appreciation and knowledge of current trends in consumer products extremely helpful
  • Bachelor’s degree, proficient in Microsoft Office; social media knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company
