    HarperCollins Digital Studio is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our prepress team. This is a unique, paid opportunity to work on children’s books of the highest quality and gain valuable experience in book production at a Big Five publisher. Our intern will be working with a wide variety of illustrations from some of the top artists in the country. This is a hands-on internship in a fast-paced environment. Applicants with previous experience in art, design, printing, or photography are preferred. Favorable candidates will also have some college experience and working knowledge of Adobe programs (especially Photoshop).


    In this position you will work with the associates in the Digital Studio to:

    • Photograph and/or scan original artwork and 3D products
    • Digitally color correct and/or retouch images in Adobe Photoshop
    • Resize and adjust resolution of digital images
    • Prepare and preflight mechanicals in Adobe InDesign
    • Inspect and create PDF files to supply to printers
    • Print Epson proofs for color matching
    • Organize and keep record of all files and assignments
    • Meet and work collaboratively with Production and Design departments 


    • College experience
    • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, multitask, and problem solve 
    • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
    • Ability to interact and communicate with small and large groups 
    • High level of attention to detail and organization 
    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects
