    We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Editor to join the HarperVia team in our General Books Group. In this role you will provide support to an Executive Editor and Associate Publisher. This is a great opportunity for someone who has interest in bringing global titles to the US market!

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in coordinating the publication process from manuscript to book, including contracts, permissions, photos, and licensing.
    • Solicit, organize, and handle author bios, photos and digital author profile.
    • Perform administrative and editorial duties under minimal supervision.
    • Monitor the production schedule and maintain communication with authors, translators and agents.
    • Review submissions and proposals and provide feedback as requested.
    • Draft title sheet copy, catalog copy, selling copy, and flap copy as needed.
    • Edits and assists in editing manuscripts.
    • Assists others as required.

    Qualifications

    • Proficiency in a foreign language strongly preferred
    • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
    • A minimum of 1-2 years prior editorial experience
    • Interest in literature in translation
    • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organization skills required
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Exceptional writing skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
