  • Overview



    We are currently seeking an Assistant Publicist to provide administrative and campaign support to a Senior Director of Publicity. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of titles include in the Avon Romance and Harper Voyager imprints. 



    • Assists with writing press releases, pitches letters and other promotional materials relating to book tours.
    • Helps reach out to targeted press and track responses.
    • Assists with coordinating book events and book signings for authors.
    • Orchestrates publicity mailings for major book campaigns.
    • Organizes author schedules; books travel for authors on tour; maintains a book campaign budget.
    • Generates media contact lists, books events and media.
    • Handles publicity campaigns for their own projects, including writing press releases and booking author tours.
    • Contributes to a social media account for one of the genre imprints.
    • Shares department assistant duties such as mail sorting, answering phones, and sending book requests.


    • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
    • Prior internship experience in publishing or publicity preferred
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
    • Ability to handle information confidentially
    • Ability to excel in a fast-paced/high pressure environment
    • Ability to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; social media knowledge a plus
    • Ability to travel to author events, media interviews, trade shows and conventions; must be able to lift boxes and handle on-site setup detail
    • Must be able to efficiently organize convention shipping details and create accurate, up-to-date convention itineraries for represented brands/imprints
