    We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to a VP Associate Publisher and a VP Editorial Director within the Harper Perrenial and HarperWave imprints.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs, under minimal supervision, administrative and editorial duties including correspondence with authors and agents.
    • Makes travel arrangements and appointments, maintains and updates files and records.
    • Reads submissions and assists in returning rejected manuscripts.
    • Assists in preparing copyrights and permissions information.
    • Monitors the production schedule for supervisor’s books, maintains communication between production, design and managing editorial to keep books on schedule.
    • Acts as a liaison with publicity and marketing departments.
    • Writes and reviews jacket copy, flap copy, catalog copy, fact sheets, and other materials as needed.
    • Prepares manuscripts for transmittal, including creating art logs for 4-color books.
    • Assists in seasonal meeting preparations; collects and prints materials for launch.
    • Serves as editorial contact for select backlist projects.

    Qualifications

    • 4 year college degree
    • Prior relevant internship experience
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Exceptional writing skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Must have a strong appreciation for food, health & wellness, memoir, commercial fiction, classics and backlist
