  • SPRING 2019 Marketing Intern

  • Overview

    This internship is 20 hours a week for the Spring 2019 academic term in Nashville, TN. 


    The marketing intern will be responsible for assisting HCL marketing and publicity efforts.


    Role responsibilities may include:

    • Support HCL social media and email platform growth with weekly content and promotional ideas.
    • Provide support for development of title-specific marketing plans.
    • Generate market research to help sharpen book and author positioning.
    • Develop Marketing Plan Updates (MPU’s) to support sales efforts to retailers.
    • Create market research surveys.
    • Identify keyword marketing opportunities and execute on Google and Amazon.
    • Research and profile key industry associations for joint marketing opportunities.
    • Compile a comprehensive list of media outlets and contacts, including podcasters.
    • Support the HCL podcast with research and promotion.
    • Help select ebook and audiobook titles for price promotions.



    Major(s) Preferred: Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business


    Required Academic Standing: Junior or Senior in a four-year college or university


    Skills Required:

    • Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles
    • Basic knowledge of social media and its benefits for marketing purposes
    • Analytical and research aptitude; comfort with investigation, discovery, and financial data
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with good use of tact and diplomacy
    • Excellent verbal and written communication; skilled in knowledge and use of
      English grammar     
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; comfortable asking for direction when needed  
    • Relative proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
    • Canva design experience a plus
    • Video editing a plus

    Industry Knowledge: General understanding of the business and leadership book and online content market is a plus, but not required.
