  • Overview

    The Key Account Manager will have direct account responsibility with major retailers as well as working with the distributors that provide product and merchandising services for these major accounts. Key accounts include Meijers, Sam’s, Kroger, Shopko, and BJ’s as well as working with our major distributor, Readerlink. This position will also include the development of a corporate Spinner Rack program.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Responsibilities:

     

    • Managing product manager relationships
    • Product presentations
    • Product forecasting
    • Inventory control within assigned accounts
    • Monitoring and reviewing POS data looking for sales trends
    • Managing Co-op and advertising expenses for assigned accounts
    • Attending corporate meetings where your input is required regarding future projects
    • Attending and contributing in department planning meetings
    • Working as a teammate with the other members of the Mass Sales team

    Qualifications

    Knowledge: Working knowledge of book sales required. Knowledge of HCCP product with a specialty in kids and gift product sales into major accounts is highly desired.

     

    Work Experience: 5+ years calling on large, national key accounts and the distributors that service those accounts

     

    Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

     

    Industry Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have start to finish publishing process knowledge from a sales perspective. They will also have an understanding of the retailer’s presentation cycles and their purchasing format.

    • Ability to read your buyer and anticipate their needs
    • Skilled at recognizing and overcoming the buyers objections to close the sale
