    Responsibilities

    Essential Responsibilities: The W Publishing intern will be responsible for assisting both the editorial and marketing teams and will gain a broad overview of the publishing process.

     

    The intern will:

    • Acquire working knowledge of standard proofreading marks and The Chicago Manual of Style by assisting with page proofs
    • Participate in acquisitions and titling meetings
    • Attend sales pub boards and learn about the acquisitions process
    • Acquire working knowledge of HCML and basic application
    • Help in creation of proposals for acquisitions projects
    • Help in creation of editorial coaching documents for first time authors
    • Gain experience in writing catalog and back-cover copy
    • Acquire working knowledge of data optimization and help in optimizing retailer copy for backlist and frontlist titles
    • Some clerical work (e.g. photocopying, binding, filing, email, note taking, and data entry)

    Qualifications

    Must be a Fall 2019 College Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student

     

    Skills Required:

    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

    Industry Knowledge: Candidates should have a passionate interest in the publishing industry, with a specific passion for non-fiction preferred. General understanding of the Christian market is a plus, but not required.
