  • Overview

    Seeking motivated, organized, detailed, multi-tasker to join the Specialty team for inspirational children’s books and gift books. This fast-paced division manages data on approx. 100 titles per year. Essential job responsibilities: Works directly with the Managing Editor (ME) in overseeing and managing new titles from Pub Board acceptance through editorial process management to printer-ready files. Interfaces with the Specialty team’s editorial, marketing, and creative team members as well as shared service areas of the company to support best tools, processes, and practices.


    • Assist the Managing Editor (ME) in managing data and scheduling.
    • Set up titles and maintain metadata for books, audio, distributed titles, and ebooks.
    • Support the ME in managing the catalog process by assisting with comprehensive data check, sample packet assembly and delivery, and catalog copy.
    • Maintain agenda and follow up action points for team launch meeting, scheduling titles for alignment to ensure that catalog deadlines are met.
    • Assist with AP&L (APL) development, processing and routing as requested by the ME.
    • Perform editorial operations support tasks (format proofreading, prepress checks, small proofreading jobs), assist Editors with editorial tasks as requested (copyright pages, including updated templates and updates for all information on the copyright page, pagination guides, UPS mailing slips, sending manuscripts to print center, etc.).
    • Process OP, LRO, and SPR requests received from the Publisher.
    • Manage the process for corrections for reprints from beginning to end.
    • Assemble the CIP data and manage the entire CIP application/correction and implementation process.
    • Receive/distribute advance copies of printed books.
    • Field, research, and forward as necessary queries received from Customer Service regarding Specialty Books
    • Maintain staff library
    • Submit copyright registration forms to the copyrights administrator
    • Supply sales with mockups and needed sales materials
    • Support the acquisitions team in tracking rejections and writing rejection letters
    • Assist Editors with RSuite tasks and workflows
    • Pull sales reports from internal data systems


    Knowledge/Work Experience: Experience in publishing/editorial work preferred


    Education: B.A. in English, Communications, or a related area


    Industry Knowledge: General understanding of the Christian publishing industry and knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style is preferred
