  • Overview



    We are currently seeking an Assistant Publicist to provide administrative and campaign support to a Director of Publicity and a senior team member for the William Morrow Group imprints (William Morrow, Dey Street, and Custom House).


    • Assists manager/managers with all aspects of book and author publicity campaigns (both fiction and nonfiction).
    • Schedules tours and works with travel agency to coordinate all author logistics.
    • Coordinates all mailings of books, galleys, and other materials.
    • Helps write and produce press materials.
    • Processes bills and orders supplies.
    • Helps with event planning.
    • Manages publicity campaigns for own projects, including writing press releases, pitching review/interview coverage, and booking author tours.
    • Participates in book signings, publication parties and special events with other members of the department.
    • Responds to outside inquiries, including review copy requests and general information questions.
    • Handles departmental administrative duties, such as weekly publicity reports, distributing mail, and scheduling meetings.
    • Researches new media and creative event opportunities.


    • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
    • Prior internship experience in publishing or publicity preferred
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
    • Ability to handle information confidentially
    • Ability to excel in a fast-paced/high pressure environment
    • Ability to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; social media knowledge a plus
    • Able to travel to author events in NYC
