    We are currently seeking a VP/Publisher of Audio to direct our growing audio program. In this highly visible role, the VP/Publisher will liaise with divisional publishers and represent the program to internal and external stakeholders including authors and agents and industry trade groups. This role will report to the President of Sales.

    Responsibilities

    1. Directs the audio program for the General Books and Children divisions:
      • Liaises with publishers in three adult General Book divisions, Harlequin and Harper Children’s division to support the audio rights acquisition by the divisions and delivers against the audio publishing plan.
      • Manages audio staff and department budget.
      • Develops and executes plan to create audio for backlist not yet in the format.
      • Acts as internal resource for contractual and editorial questions relating to audio.
      • Provides in-house producers and production teams with the tools and resources they need.
      • Works closely with digital sales and marketing teams on the sales, merchandising and marketing of digital audio to help ensure co-ordination across formats.
    2. Formulates the audio/voice/podcast strategy going forward on behalf of the US Business:
      • In conjunction with digital business development, strategy and the other divisions develops a forward-thinking audio strategy and plan.
      • Partners with business development team on exploring and identifying new commercial opportunities and on delivering against strategic projects.
      • Partners with international divisions to share best practices on audio and voice.
      • Leads the exploration, identification, co-ordination and delivery of new opportunities such as podcasts and short form audio for both commercial and marketing purposes.
      • Represents HarperCollins in industry audio efforts.

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of related experience; at least 5 years of experience managing a team
    • Must have established relationships with agent community
    • Must be extremely Author-centric
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with internal business teams to achieve outstanding business results
    • Strong decision-making and judgement skills
    • Experienced leader, with strong management skills and ability to coach, provide feedback and grow talent
