    Our ideal candidate for the Senior Marketing Director position will be a leader who inspires and can cast and manage an ambitious vision for continuing our growth.  This individual will have a thorough understanding of marketing and sales within a Spanish market, (both domestic and international), be creative and well-organized, driven by high standards, and persistent in achieving goals. This leader will also roll up their sleeves and make things happen.

    Responsibilities

    • Creates vision for and leads implementation of divisional marketing objectives, programs, and strategy, working with editors, authors, agents, internal and external marketing teams to execute objectives
    • Relentlessly pursues strategic partnerships with companies, retailers, influencers, and others to drive book sales
    • Employs a creative ability to craft effective messaging, branding, and marketing storytelling for Spanish language resources across all lines (Bibles, Fiction and Non-fiction, Kids’ and specialty).
    • Helps ensure revenue goals are met while managing marketing expenses accordingly
    • Focuses on continually improving existing marketing practices and ideas, and helps motivate team to achieve goals
    • Provides consultation on all imprint-wide marketing activities to ensure best practices are embedded in plans
    • Stays aware of marketing trends and provides recommendations of new marketing initiatives and strategies
    • Conveys key initiatives, financials, and marketing updates at various internal meetings (sales conference, retail meetings, etc.) as needed 
    • Develops and continuously improves relationships with key sales accounts and sales representatives.
    • Implements a strong understanding of business, ROI, sales drivers, and creating effective marketing campaigns that result in increased, trackable sales.
    • Supervises marketing staff, but also chases down, implements, and executes new strategies and idea themselves

    Qualifications

    Work Experience:

    • 8+ years of complex marketing experience, preferably in a publishing, retail, entertainment, or consumer product industry
    • 4+ years of experience managing members of a marketing team
    • Experience in creating, pitching, and landing unique partnerships that translated to clear marketing and sales benefits
    • Experience managing a range of marketing mediums (print, radio, digital, social media, direct mail, etc.) 

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or business-related field
    • Master’s Degree in business-related field preferred

    Industry Knowledge:

    • General understanding of the Bible and the Christian church in its various expressions.
    • Knowledge in the children’s, inspirational, or entertainment space preferred
    • Knowledge of the Spanish literary market, both in the US and throughout Latin America.

    • An ability to think strategically, connecting all dots and maximizing all facets of a marketing campaign

    • Experience managing P&L statements and budgets
    • Proficient in basic computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as social media platforms and trends in that space
    • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key personnel such as authors, agents, colleagues, and vendors
    • Exceptional written and oral communications skills, in both English and Spanish
    • Exceptional organizational skills, with ability to juggle many logistics and deadlines
