  • Overview

    The Senior Marketing Associate supports the Nelson Books marketing team with general marketing, digital marketing, public relations, and administrative activities around its portfolio of book products. This team member helps develop and execute marketing plans for new product launches (approximately 40 new titles per year) and promote sales of existing products.

    Responsibilities

    • Communications: verbal | copywriting | graphic design | public relations | marketing messaging
      • Create marketing collateral and support tools, including website landing pages, advertisements, keyword metadata, email campaigns, social media memes and ads, etc.
      • Prepare and distribute marketing and publicity materials and tools (e.g., messaging documents, bios, interview preparation questions, etc.) and communicate status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Project Management: organize | plan | schedule | track | maintain data
      • Develop, schedule, execute, and track marketing campaigns bridging traditional and digital formats and venues (social media, Amazon placement, events, media relations, email, advertising channels, etc.).
      • Populate, update and maintain master contact database used for media outreach and consumer communications. Query database to create targeted lists for new product launches. Distribute marketing and publicity materials.
    • Performance Analytics: monitor | interpret | report
      • Extract, assess, and communicate performance measures of marketing campaign effectiveness across digital and traditional marketing platforms, publicity venues, and sales channels.
      • Assist in development, execution, and reporting of marketing research programs initiated by/for Nelson Books’ internal and external stakeholders.
      • Research, document, analyze, and track author profiles to assess and develop their platform footprint (e.g., websites, social media, consumer engagement, etc.).
    • Financial Process Administration: analyze | process
      • Process, manage, and track invoices through internal cost systems. Monitor process, progress, and results.
      • Maintain projection sheets for all active books/projects. Track commitments against budget, identifying opportunities and challenges for marketing team actions.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge: Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles. Familiarity with digital marketing practices, metadata application, and public relations foundations (media pitching and outreach).

     

    Work Experience: 2-4 years of general marketing, digital marketing, public relations, or marketing/public relations/ad agency experience.

     

    Education:   Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, or strategic communications.

     

    Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Christian authors and media outlets a plus.

     

    Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in knowledge and use of English grammar.
    • Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles. Familiarity with digital marketing practices, metadata application, and public relations foundations. Media pitching and outreach experience a plus.
    • Proven project management and organizing skills. Able to coordinate multifaceted projects and deliver them on schedule. Attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to apply tact and diplomacy.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
    • Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite design experience a plus.
