  • Overview

    The Assistant Editor will perform manuscript styling (using the HCML template) for Zondervan CARR and Zondervan Trade titles and copy edit and proofread manuscripts as assigned and as capacity permits.


    • Perform manuscript styling for complex and/or long manuscripts (commentaries, reference books, textbooks)
    • Perform manuscript styling for less complex manuscripts (trade books, ministry resources, reflective books, etc.)
    • Copy editing (trade books, ministry resources, reflective books, etc.)
    • Proofreading



    • Advanced knowledge of MS Word and an interest in exploring its full capabilities
    • A basic knowledge of the Bible and Christian doctrine
    • A basic knowledge of good writing style
    • A basic knowledge of the process from accepted manuscript to printer-ready files would be helpful


    Work Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in publishing, an editorial internship or some entry level editorial work experience is preferred


    Education: A BA degree, preferably in the humanities / liberal arts or Bible/theology



    • Basic copy editing and proofreading skills and the aptitude to improve those skills
    • An interest in and aptitude for looking for better, more efficient ways to do things
    • Careful attention to detail
    • Ability to analyze content structurally, including the logical hierarchy of structure
    • Well-developed time management, project management, and organizational skills.
