  • Overview

    The field sales representative team for HarperCollins Christian Publishing is the one called upon to work most closely with brick and mortar Christian retailers across the country.   This position exists to achieve designated sales goals by providing superior sales and marketing support to Independent retailers within the Upper Midwest and Pacific Northwest territory. Additionally, this team member will be asked to be available for various events and church visits.

    Responsibilities

    • Achieve overall and individual sales goals, forecasts and budgets by effectively managing prescribed territory.  This includes achieving individual goals for areas such as number of sales calls, written orders, phone calls, etc.
    • Effectively partner with Inside Sales partners to ensure all accounts within the territory are contacted a minimum of once per sales cycle and presented all New Releases along with Backlist titles and specials.
    • Average a minimum of five in-store sales calls each week.
    • Organize, plan and prepare weekly travel schedules
    • Present all New Release and Backlist products along with all promotions and additional sales programs to customers in a timely manner.
    • Take responsibility for solving all account questions and issues through personal service or taking the concern to the proper person or channel.
    • Partner with customers on promotional activities including co-op driven events that are in compliance with HarperCollins Co-op Policy and Procedures.
    • Through effective written and/or oral means communicate weekly concerning all key activities within territory including successes along with potential and missed opportunities.
    • As needed, participate in industry trade shows.
    • Provide timely responses to customer’s and internal requests.
    • Act positively to resolve all customer service issues or turn them over to the Customer Service department as necessary.
    • Effectively follow all HarperCollins policy and procedure
    • Actively and positively participate in all team meetings, conference calls etc, bringing relevant issues and concerns to the entire team in a positive manner along with potential solutions.
    • Maintain and submit travel schedules for each sales cycle prior to the start of the cycle.
    • Attend all Sales Conferences and meetings that may require additional travel.
    • Whenever possible, attend all author driven events and book signings in territory.
    • Effectively manage all travel and entertainment expenses both within budget and within HarperCollins guidelines.  Expense reports must be managed online monthly.
    • Any other duties as prescribed.

    Qualifications

    Work Experience:

    Direct sales. 5+ years sales experience preferred. Retail background is a plus.

     

    Education:

    College degree or equivalent work experience

     

    Industry Knowledge:

    Working knowledge of Christian products industry

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications & general to advanced computer skills
