  • Overview

    Olive Tree Bible Software, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, is looking for a Software Developer to join our innovative app development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing software for new or existing applications using object-oriented programming languages, and principles, reaching an audience of over 1 million user per month. This position will primarily focus on the Apple platforms of iOS and macOS, utilizing Objective-C and C++. In addition, this position may, from time to time, also include extended development time on Android (Java) or Windows (C#).


    • Expand and adapt Olive Tree technology on iOS and macOS,
    • Assist the development efforts of Microsoft and/or Android as needed.
    • Write, test, and maintain new and existing software.
    • Work with the QA team to improve software performance.
    • Clearly communicate with management and technical support staff.
    • Participate in code-reviews, both as a reviewer and as a reviewee.
    • Recommend improvements to software architecture or features as needed.
    • Keep current with technical developments and trends for mobile and desktop applications to adequately respond to the constant changes in technology and demands of the marketplace.


    Knowledge/Work Experience:

    • Two years of experience with a major object oriented programming language such as Objective-C, C++, Java, or C#, specifically in application development.
    • An understanding of, and experience showing, object-oriented programming and design patterns.
    • An awareness of muti-threaded programming concepts.
    • Practical knowledge regarding the use version control systems such as git.


    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred, however, equivalent experience will be considered.


    Industry Knowledge: Helpful, but not required, is familiarity with biblical material and/or biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew).

    Knowledge of iOS or macOS development is preferred.



    • Fluent in either Objective-C, C++, Java, or C#.
    • Working knowledge of one or more scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl.
    • Unintimidated by the terminal and using bash or similar shell environment.
    • Comfortable with git (or other version control system).
    • Familiar with either MySQL or SQLite.
