  • Overview

    HarperCollins Christian Publishing seeks a Production Artist to join our talented prepress team. The Production Artist's primary role is to work with the Prepress Manager and Art Directors to complete project files and prepare them for print. This includes file setup, file prepress, and archiving files into digital asset management system. This is a fast paced environment where multiple jobs are being processed at any given time. Creative problem solvers with strong communication skills and the ability to multitask will thrive in this role.



    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Work with the Art Directors and Production Managers to develop and/or complete product files for printing
    • Prepare, preflight, and send files to printers
    • Create match prints for approval
    • Archive completed projects
    • Assist in maintaining our in-house digital asset management system
    • Fulfill reprint correction requests
    • Reformat files to new templates to our new brand standards


    Successful candidates will have 1 - 3 years experience preparing files for print.


    At least a 2 year college degree in Graphic Design is preferred. However, additional experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.


    Specific Industry Knowledge Required:

    • 4-color file processes
    • Spot color processes
    • Current printing processes
    • Preflighting files for print
    • Photo retouching
    • Vector image editing


    Required Skills:

    • Expert level Mac OS 
      In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and Acrobat Pro
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Specific knowledge of typography
    • Knowledge of: ftp, file sharing, file types, fonts, servers, pdf’s, etc.
    • Current Illustration styles and design trends
