    Our Children’s Books design team is currently seeking a Design Assistant to join the fast-paced, creative team. In this role, the Design Assistant will provide administrative and design support to the Senior Art Director and design department.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides administrative support to the Art Director including answering phone, archiving files in DAM, updating charts, ordering books and supplies, etc.
    • Creates materials for presentations.
    • Codes and processes invoices and contracts for the design department.
    • Assists with design for paperback repackages, reprints and bound galleys.
    • Provides design support to Art Director and Associate Art Directors as needed.
    • Provides general assistance to team on special projects as needed.
    • Returns art and dead matter.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 1-year design experience required
    • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
    • Enthusiastic self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Detail oriented with the ability to set priorities under pressure
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly and work effectively in a team setting
    • Strong Mac skills and design skills using Quark, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
    • A strong interest in Children's books
    • College degree or equivalent work experience
    • Course work in graphic design, typography and illustration preferred
