  • Overview



    We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to two editors of the William Morrow and Avon imprints.  In this role you will have the opportunity to work primarily on women’s commercial fiction, as well as mystery and romance.


    • Provides editorial and administrative support to two department members.
    • Must have the ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner, conveying accurate information and administrative support to bestselling authors and their agents as well as in-house personnel from all departments.
    • Must be able to shift gears and work quickly while remaining detail oriented.
    • Under supervision, writes first drafts of editorial materials, including fact sheets, descriptive copy, and keynotes.
    • Reads and evaluates submissions, writes reader reports, and researches author track records.
    • Prepares contract requests, production memos, transmittal forms and payment requests, orders author copies, tracks author photos, takes minutes at meetings. 
    • Formats and transmits final manuscripts to Managing Editorial department, using current office systems.


    • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
    • Exceptional communication skills, including telephone and email communication skills.
    • Strong creative writing skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Proficient with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Goodreads, etc.)
    • A strong interest in all types of commercial fiction
