    IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ~ Be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about books, authors and the publishing industry.


    Prepare Communications (40%)
    •Preparing key messaging on a variety of subjects to support clear and concise communications to internal and external audiences such as editorial department, conference attendees, authors, agents and others
    •Coordinate the development of communications tools and collateral - such as brochures, press materials, presentations, posters, infographics and more.
    •Write and edit a broad range of editorial and author communications like speaking notes, scripts and presentations
    •Develop opportunities to position our authors and editors as newsworthy

    Plan and Manage Events (40%)
    •Coordinate logistics and programming for special events, conferences and conventions. This would include deciding on the scope of Harlequin’s activities and evaluating the results.
    •Providing support for various author engagement and author recognition events and activities as well as employee-focused events such as imprint launches and in-house author signings
    •Travel as needed to conferences.

    Strategy and other (20%)
    •Supporting the Editorial Director in the creation of the overall team strategy
    •Tracking, reporting and measuring communication programs including events
    •Maintaining contact lists for stakeholder’s groups such as authors and agents, event invitees, etc., to support communications and events
    •Other administrative tasks as required



    •A Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing graduate, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
    •Solid knowledge of current professional communications and marketing techniques. 
    •Experience planning and executing special events.
    •Outstanding written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to be creative, detail- focused, and deadline-driven.
    •Strong collaboration and relationship building skills at all levels within the organization.  
    •Tactful, able to demonstrate discretion and good judgement.
    •Proficiency with web-based tools and applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Photoshop and Acrobat (an asset)
    •Demonstrated knowledge of current technologies, social media platforms and familiarity with digital content creation a plus. 
    •Solid understanding of project management principles 
    •Portfolio of work including writing samples must be available for review.
